Human Ventures Begins Raising from Top Investors and Rounds out Executive Team
The startup ecosystem in New York City couldn’t be more exciting right now. The diverse environment is extremely conducive to industry collaboration. NYC is becoming a tech center because of its leadership in varied industries (food, finance, fashion, healthcare, education, media) and the tech component is just a layer. There is a feeling of community and camaraderie amongst founders and investors that makes New York the most attractive place to build great companies.
Human Ventures has started fundraising from top investors who are investing alongside Human’s Executive Chairman and initial funder Joe Marchese. In addition to Reserve, Human’s current portfolio consists of companies that span education, financial technology, film, and e-commerce. We expect to launch publicly two new companies in the Fall.
In addition to raising capital, I am pleased to announce that Megan O’Connor and Michael Letta have joined the Human executive team as Chief Growth Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Megan and Michael join us from two incredible organizations that were both instrumental in redefining the world of social impact over the past 10 years. Megan most recently served as the Director of Development for the tech industries darling charity, Pencils of Promise, doubling the size of the organization in under two years. Michael Joins us from charity: water, where as Chief Financial Officer, he grew it to be a $175M organization funded by the tech elite. Both Megan and Michael are known for their experience in scaling and leading impact organizations from the ground up, a vital skill-set that can be directly applied to the startup environment. Prior to their work in philanthropy, Megan and Michael worked in the private sector at The Economist and Deloitte respectively.
Human Ventures is redefining the startup culture and bringing a valuable spotlight to the New York tech scene. We build great companies around the framework of democratizing premium experiences through consumer-facing technologies while producing a scalable impact on society. Our model is built around cultivating an ecosystem of highly talented and inspired Humans from the outset. We raise investment from top tier investors who will also help set our portfolio companies apart from the growing number of startups in the ecosystem.

The Human team is also excited to welcome Anna Fine as Creative Director. Anna recently graduated from Google’s prestigious 30-weeks program, a boot camp that provides the most talented designers the tools to create companies that can change the world.
